Focus Pietro Roccasalva Pietro Roccasalva is one of the most singular voices in contemporary Italian painting. At Art Basel 2026, MASSIMODECARLO presents a focused selection of works spanning three of the defining series of his practice. The “entropic child” - Roccasalva’s reading of Hoffmann’s 1845 Struwwelpeter - embodies a persistent preoccupation with time, growth, and the uncontrollable. Alongside him, the bride of La Sposa Occidentale and the charged tableau of Just Married Machine weave together references from Goethe, Pasolini, and Tarkovsky into a visual language that Roccasalva has been building, layering, and returning to for over two decades.
